William Dahl

Astoria

June 27, 1946 — Jan. 7, 2018

Bill was born June 27, 1946, in Astoria, Oregon, to Alf and Edith Autio Dahl. He passed away at home, in Astoria, on Jan. 7, 2018.

He grew up in Walnut Creek, California.

In 1968, he was drafted into the Army, and served in both Korea and Vietnam.

In the early 1980s, Bill migrated north to his birthplace and went to work for his cousin, Marvin Autio, at the Autio Co. in Brownsmead. He later worked for Wadsworth Electric for many years, and ended his career at Borland Electric in Gearhart. He met and married Martha Lovell on May 28, 1983. They set to work restoring an old house built in 1908, a project with no end. Other hobbies included traveling, fine woodworking, reading and skiing.

Bill is survived by his wife of 35 years, Martha; stepchildren Jason Naggiar and his wife, Racael, and Laurel Bui and her husband, Tuan; grandchildren Vinh and Paris Bui and Timbre and Elora Naggiar; older brothers Alf (Wally) Dahl and Paul Dahl; and cousins Marvin Autio and Mary Autio.

The family wishes to thank Lower Columbia Hospice for such wonderful care in his final days.

At Bill’s request, there will be no funeral.
